What should I expect on my Fat Removal appointment?

First, we will provide you some guidance on what to do before your treatment starts, which we call the pre-treatment phase. During this phase, we recommend that you avoid any anti-inflammatory drugs and supplements not required by your doctor or health regimen. These include Aspirin, Motrin, ibuprofen, Advil, antihistamine medications, vitamin E, fish oil, gingko biloba, St. John’s wort, and garlic supplements. Doing so will help you avoid excess bruising after the treatment.
As for the treatment itself, a removable grid is applied to the treatment area. Then, the Fat Removal solution is injected in small amounts into the fat of the target area. You may feel a slight burning sensation during this process while the injections. After the injections, we check to ensure everything is looking good and then you will be sent home with some post-treatment care instructions. Mesotherapy Pre and Post Treatment Instructions
You are less likely to bruise if you refrain from using prescription medication and over-the-counter supplements that thin the blood, including aspirin, fish oils, ibuprofen, and alcohol. We cannot guarantee that you will not swell or bruise, but we do everything we can for the treatment to be as comfortable as possible. It is rare for our patients to bruise, especially if they follow these instructions:
– Avoid fish oil, aspirin, ibuprofen and alcohol for a few days prior to your treatment. These substances are natural blood thinner and will make you more likely to bruise.
– Avoid supplements including St. John’s Wart, gingko biloba, primrose oil, garlic, ginseng, and Vitamin E for 1 week prior to your treatment.
– Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, or any high potency anti-ageing products for 3 days prior to your treatment.
– Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or hair removal cream on the area to be treated for 3 days prior.
– Avoid excessive sun exposure.
– Do not drink alcoholic beverages for 24 hours prior to your treatment.
– You can pre-treat yourself with both oral and topical Arnica, a homeopathic remedy. Arnica can lessen or reduce the chance and severity of a bruise.
If you are a person who bruises easily, if you have thin skin, or if you are on blood-thinners, you are more likely to bruise.
If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another eruption of cold sores. Please let doctor know if you are prone to cold sores.
If you are pregnant, lactating or have an allergy to any of the ingredients of the injectables, Cosmetic injectables are not suitable for you. Please inform us if you have any questions about this prior to your treatment.
